Humane Services

Every pet in our care deserves a loving home. Let us find you a life-long match.

Are you in a crisis and considering giving up your pet? We want to help you keep your pet.

Last year, over a thousand pets who were sick, injured, or too young to be adopted required the love and extra care of a temporary home. Do you want to be a foster parent?

Watch: Celebrating 150 years at the Maryland SPCA

Celebrating 150 years

Since 1869, the Maryland SPCA has worked toward a future of compassion and care for Maryland's animals.

To alleviate overcrowding in shelters throughout Maryland, our transport team saved 1,348 pets last year. Often, these are pets with unique medical conditions, such as cats and kittens requiring specialized treatment for ringworm. The MD SPCA is the only shelter in the region with a facility entirely dedicated to ringworm treatment.

There’s no time limit on how long a pet can stay with us. Last year, our team of dedicated, compassionate staff and volunteers provided care and enrichment for 3,420 dogs and cats until they found their forever homes.
