Nanette

Nanette was found all alone by a hiker on a trail along the Maryland/Pennsylvania line.

She was immediately brought to the Maryland SPCA. The medical team estimated that she was only a few days old. Her eyes were open and her ears were starting to unfold, but she couldn’t eat or eliminate waste on her own.

Our team kept her warm and bottle fed her, but then they had an idea! A nursing mother cat had also arrived recently. They wondered if momma cat would accept an extra kitten. Everyone held their breath as the momma cat sniffed baby Nanette and rolled over to reveal her belly. Nanette squirmed her way between the other kittens and nursed.

The whole family was sent to foster together for eight weeks. Then they were all spayed/neutered and adopted! We’re able to send these whole families to foster because of funding from companies like William Blair.
