The Maryland SPCA regularly has opportunities for university, nonprofit, and other eligible groups to volunteer at the shelter in addition to our corporate engagement program. The MD SPCA can host groups of up to 6 volunteers on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. pending availability. We recommend planning for your volunteer day at least 4 – 6 weeks in advance.
Volunteer groups will help with lots of different, much-needed projects including, but not limited to, cleaning cages, laundry, dishes, chopping treats, groundswork, event preparation, and organizing donations. Included in the day’s schedule is a tour of the shelter with opportunities to meet adoptable pets and take a group photo.
In order to volunteer, all members of your group must be at least 17 years old at the time of volunteering, must be in general good health, must have their own health insurance (or be covered by a parent or guardian’s), and agree to sign a waiver of liability.
For inquiries on available dates, and to set up a group volunteer day, contact our Volunteer Manager Adrienne Potter Yoe at [email protected] or Volunteer Coordinator Laryssa Blanchard at [email protected].
