Salem is a teddy bear of a black cat. Tipping the scales at 18 pounds, this eight year-old hunk will fill your home and your heart. He's a snuggler who loves everyone - he greets friends and family with a polite meow and a gentle rub. Of course, he enjoys an ear scratch in return. He will be a constant companion and follows his people from room to room. He's never shown any aggression or negativity - Salem is mister mellow through and through. Although he's very even-tempered, his ears perk up at new sounds and he doesn't miss a thing around him. He may gallop around the house for a few minutes chasing a ball or a ribbon, but his favorite place is curled up next to a human. He's very self-confident and an all-round happy cat. He loves to watch the world outside and appreciates a window or secure porch or patio where he can sunbathe and watch the birds. Like a lot of big guys, he's trying to loose a little weight. Fortunately, he's not food-obsessed and is doing well on a diet of small meals. He likes an early-to-bed schedule and will sleep on your bed - or anywhere that's warm and near people. When he's in a deep sleep, he has an adorable quiet snore. His bathroom habits are impeccable; a single litter box is all he needs. In foster care, he adapted immediately to a new home and family (and all their friends and guests). He is used to being an only pet, but he wouldn't mind sharing a home with older children. I'm a Lucky 7 pet so my adoption fee is $0! Finding The Right Pet
