Meet BOOMER!

90% Sweet / 10% Spicy / 100% Heartthrob. Boomer hopes to bring friendship, entertainment, and a handsome face to your low-stress home.

Once he feels at home and comfortable Boomer is smart, polite, playful, sweet, and affectionate - on his own terms of course. He loves wand toys, laser lights, scratch posts, window sills, and some catnip toys to chew on. Boomer is very treat motivated and is a VERY quick learner. He is also a social eater meaning he loves to have you near him while he eats. Though quite independent, he will usually allow you to pick him up. He is even happy to jump on your lap if there is a treat waiting for him, but he never stays long. He's not a cuddler but he enjoys company, ear scratches, and good conversation.. He loves being gently brushed and stroked, though if you happen to cross a line he will let you know... and then forgive you just as quickly. He seeks out your attention, rubbing against your legs or walking across your desk, and letting you know when he is ready to play. And he will happily greet you every morning with his adorable goose calls.

Boomer was recently diagnosed with Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD). Sadly it seems like this condition may have gone undiagnosed for quite some time as he had a history of litterbox issues in his previous home. This may have been aggravated by the noise and stress of that home. Despite the "Boom" in his name, Boomer is not a fan of loud noises and may react when startled. He previously lived with a large dog and active, loud children where he spent a lot of time hiding. The good news is everything now seems to be fully under control since coming to the MD SPCA. In the shelter and in his foster home he has been a 100% perfect gentleman in the litterbox with zero issues, and his latest medical tests were crystal clear. Boomer simply isn't interested in wet food (he's tried them all) so he will need to stay on a simple prescription dry food... which he fortunately LOVES. Likewise he can only have prescription treats... which he loves EVEN MORE! His success also comes from a waterfall drinking fountain which encourages him to drink more water... a key factor for any FLUTD kitty.

Boomer may be a little cautious and slow to trust at first. HOWEVER, if you are willing to put in some time talking to him gently, providing some mind enriching games and training, petting and brushing and patiently getting to know him - you will have a new best friend for life. Boomer would do best in a quiet, slow paced home with no small children or other pets. For a kitty who's life started off a bit rocky, Boomer is a super sweet and polite guy who just wants a peaceful place to call home and someone who he can trust to treat him with kindness.
