BALTIMORE, MD—From July 21 to 25, the Maryland SPCA will hold its “Adopt-a-thon”—a five-day adoption event at PetSmart Columbia. Eighty cats and kittens and a small number of dogs will be available for adoption. The event will be funded by a $2,000 grant from PetSmart Charities.

The event schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday, July 21: 4 – 7pm.
  • Thursday, July 22: 4 – 7pm.
  • Friday, July 23: 4 – 7pm.
  • Saturday, July 24: 12 – 4pm.
  • Sunday, July 25: 12 – 4pm.

“The MD SPCA is thrilled to participate in PetSmart Charities’ National Adoption Week,” said Andy Beres, marketing and communications director at the MD SPCA. “This event is a natural continuation of our long-running partnership, which has helped countless dogs and cats find happy homes. It’s a great feeling being out in the community and seeing pets meet their forever friends.”

“We’re proud to support the Maryland SPCA as they work to prepare shelter pets for adoption,” said Heidi Fulcher, adoption grants manager at PetSmart Charities. “Thanks to this work, adoptable pets will receive vital care, along with the best chance of finding loving homes, just in time for PetSmart Charities’ National Adoption Week.”

Since 1994, through its partnership with nearly 4,000 humane societies, SPCAs, and pet rescues across North America, PetSmart Charities has helped more than 9.3 million pets to find loving homes via its in-store adoption program in over 1,600 PetSmart® stores. The leading funder of animal welfare has also donated nearly $430 million to improve access to veterinary care, to positively impact communities, to connect people and pets, and to help preserve families through initiatives like this with the MD SPCA.
