The Maryland SPCA will be closed for Thanksgiving.

Have a safe and happy holiday!

We offer some service learning opportunities. Hours for civic organizations, clubs and schools may be completed at the discretion of the Volunteer Manager.

Service Learning volunteers must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be at least 17 years of age. (If 17, permission of a parent or legal guardian is required to complete hours.)
  • Service learning volunteers will be assigned laundry/dishes duties, shelter cleaning or to other areas of the grounds as deemed appropriate.
  • You must be able to complete your hours during our business hours.
  • Schedules are based on shelter needs and once a schedule is set, volunteers must follow this schedule unless previous arrangements have been made with the Volunteer Manager.

All service learning volunteers must give 48-hours notice to the Volunteer Manager if written documentation of service is needed.

Appropriate documentation of the service learning hours needed (e.g., the paperwork) must be provided to the Volunteer Manager before any service learning hours can be completed.

If you need service learning hours and are interested in volunteering for the Maryland SPCA, you can begin the application process by completing an application. The questions in the application are designed to ensure that your volunteer experience is positive for both you and the animals. After receiving your application, a member of our team will contact you.

If you have questions about volunteering at the MD SPCA, please contact: rae@mdspca.org or 410-235-8826, ext. 146.
