The Maryland SPCA's Reading Program Humane Education initiative for kids ages 6-12 years old is back. The Reading Program will run on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the duration of the 2017/2018 school year.
“Pet Pals is a program that will benefit children and also benefit the pets waiting to be adopted,” said Katie Flory, director of community affairs at the Maryland SPCA. “It will help reinforce to children that pets should be loved and treated kindly while they continue to strengthen their reading skills without being judged on their reading abilities. The pets enjoy the company, and it reduces stress in pets who may be anxious in a kennel environment.”
There is no fee for this event, but space is limited and registration is required. Start registration by clicking on the link below.
*Each child must be accompanied by an adult.
**Participants are encouraged to bring their own books to read.
