Starting in June the Maryland SPCA's Summer Reading Program Humane Education initiative for kids ages 6-12 years old is back. The MD SPCA’s Pet Pals Reading Program will run from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m on Tuesdays until June 12. Starting on June 20, the Summer Reading Program will run on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. until the end of August 2018.
“Pet Pals is a program that will benefit children and also benefit the pets waiting to be adopted,” said Katie Flory, director of community affairs at the Maryland SPCA. “It will help reinforce to children that pets should be loved and treated kindly while they continue to strengthen their reading skills without being judged on their reading abilities. The pets enjoy the company, and it reduces stress in pets who may be anxious in a kennel environment.”
There is no fee for this event, but space is limited and registration is required. Start registration by clicking on the link below.
