The Maryland SPCA Education and Outreach program is an initiative to promote community giving and education in animal welfare. Our Community Outreach and Education programs are an important component of our mission. From the beginning, our outreach initiatives have been inspired by staff and volunteer desires to help people and pets in need and to motivate community interest in compassion for animals. There are many ways to participate. The MD SPCA's educational outreach initiatives offer the opportunity to provide students (regional K–12 schools) and scouts a one-on-one experience with our staff and even our outreach doggie ambassadors.
Facility Tours - Have your group tour our facilities personally guided by a Maryland SPCA representative. Learn about our day-to-day operations and view our Morton Gorn Center for Animal Adoption. We welcome one-on-one tours, parties, scout troops, class visits, work groups and many more.
Educational Presentations - Our Education & Outreach team is happy to present at your location. Maryland SPCA can present on a variety of animal welfare topics tailored to your specific audience. Our staff can also be accompanied by our current outreach doggie ambassador, Lucy, should that be an option for your audience.
Reading Program - The MD SPCA’s Pet Pals Reading Program for kids ages 6-12 years old runs weekly from 5 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays during the school year. Please check back for the 2018 Fall signup form.
