Many pet owners cannot afford the cost of spaying or neutering their dogs through local veterinarians. The Maryland SPCA's Fido-Fix program makes it easier for those on a fixed income to spay or neuter their dogs and obtain wellness care.

Dog owners who qualify for Fido-Fix are for individuals earning less than $25,000 annually or households earning $42,000 or less a year.** Additionally, large breed dogs must weigh less than 85 pounds and be between the ages of 8 weeks and 5 years. Small breed dogs must weigh more than 10 pounds and be between the ages of 4 months and 5 years. Proof of income is required and can be based on last year's income tax form, Social Security Disability, all W-2 forms for the family, Section 8, Free Lunch, Food Stamps, VA Disability, AFDC, WIC or Pay Stub.
