Camden Gets the Royal Treatment
Dear Maryland SPCA,
My husband and I adopted Camden (formerly Reagan) in June 2006 when she was only 8 weeks old. She quickly became the love of our lives! She was quite shy at first, and still can be, but she gets more confident every day. In her year with us, she has been to two obedience classes and frequently enjoys doggie daycare and afternoons at the dog park. She was also thrilled with the snow we got this winter (although minimal, it was enough to play in) and a trip to Ocean City this spring.
Camden gets the royal treatment by all of her family and friends and is more loved than she could ever comprehend. We look forward to taking her for long walks, giving her belly rubs and playing with her as much as she looks forward to those same things.
My husband and I will always adopt our pets as we feel it's so important to give these animals the chance to have the life they deserve. Thank you, MDSPCA, for letting us give Camden that chance. We can't imagine our life without her! — Jennifer

It Was Meant to Be
Dear Maryland SPCA,
I wasn't looking to adopt a dog. I just wanted to visit since it was my first time at The Maryland SPCA. I was going from cage to cage saying hello to each doggy when I came upon Molly. She being a Shar Pei, I fell in love with her right away. My grandfather had passed away recently, and his favorite dog was a Shar Pei. It was meant to be. I asked right then to meet with her so in the booth we went. She was so shy at the time. I said my goodbyes and went home. It only took me a day to come to the conclusion I was going to adopt her. I took her home that weekend after taking an adoption class.
She now runs my house and is the most energetic and happiest dog I know. She has changed my life, and I cannot be without her. It looks like the feeling is mutual.
Since that day, I have been looking to get other pets adopted and am about to walk in my first March for the Animals! Thank you so much! — Shana

Annie and Sage Are Angels
Dear Maryland SPCA,
I adopted Annie, a pointer mix, back in 2005, and what an amazing companion she has been. Since the adoption, she has traveled across the country with me to our new home in Salt Lake City, Utah. I have gotten married, so now she has a new Dad and sister, a black lab named Sage, who she just can't live without. Annie loves to play in the snow with Sage, and her inner bird dog comes out when we're out hiking and running around. She loves to curl up on her bed and snuggle with her sister. We have gotten her allergies under control, and she has stayed a healthy dog since then.
Adopting Annie changed my life in so many wonderful ways. Thank you for allowing me the chance to have such a wonderful companion! — Jane and Annie

Marty, a Fells Point Celebrity
Dear SPCA,
Marty (formerly Buddy) is my 4-year-old Husky/Australian Shepherd mix and an MDSPCA alumnus. I decided to adopt him when I moved to Baltimore. He immediately started going to work with me at Dudley & Max for Dogs and Cats in Fells Point. It took a year or so for him to really behave himself with proper workplace etiquette, but now he can be seen lounging out front of the store on the warm brick sidewalk. People stop by every day and gush over his soft fur and beautful blue eyes and never believe me when I tell them he's a mutt from The Maryland SPCA. He loves meeting new people at work and is probably the most petted dog in the Southeastern part of Baltimore City. When I don't bring Marty to work, everyone asks where "that blue-eyed dog" is.
From a skinny, skittish, little rescue to a Fells Point celebrity, Marty has come a long way. Come and visit him this summer down at Dudley & Max. — Amy

Max Adopts Emile as His Puppy
Thank you, SPCA.
Our new puppy, Emile (formerly Hogan), is a wonderful pet who loves everyone and seems very happy! At 9 weeks, he learned "sit," and he is learning "come" and "inside" now at 11 weeks.
Max, who is also from the SPCA, is a most amazing dog. Max is an athlete and a gentleman who has adopted Emile as his own puppy. He asks me to let Emile out of his crate, tolerates endless chewing on his limbs, ears and face and will wait for "his puppy" before he goes out to play in the yard.
Thanks to all of you for bringing us such wonderful pets. — Paul, Alison and Kelly

Carson Joins the Family
Dear SPCA ,
I adopted Carson on the first snow day in December of 2005. We have had an excellent year! Carson really loves our trips to the beach! He also loves playing with this "aunt" and "uncle" — my parents' dogs, Casey and Baxter, who also are SPCA alumni. — Stacie

Boo Boo: a Friend for Life
Dear SPCA ,
My husband and I adopted Boo Boo from The Maryland SPCA back in April of 2005. It's the best decision we have ever made. She is my best friend in the whole world, and she grew from a tiny, shy pup to a large, friendly member of our family.
I will soon be a volunteer at the SPCA, and I look forward to the opportunity to help others find a friend for life. — Chrissy

Phantom Says Meow
Hello MDSPCA !
We adopted our adored kitty, Phantom, on February 2, 2007. It did not take long for Phantom to warm up to us. After taking him out of his carrier, he ran under the bed, peaked his head out and, within a few minutes, he accepted us as his mommy and daddy. It wasn't all smooth sailing, though. It turned out he was allergic to his litter and had roundworm.
Now Phantom is all better and living a normal kitty life. He has so much personality and always has so much to say ("Meow!"). Some of Phantom's favorite things are sitting on his window perch, scratching on his Alpine Scratcher and playing with string (of course!).
We are so happy that we adopted Phantom from the MDSPCA. We couldn't have asked for a more cuddly and kind cat. He is one in a million! Thank you so much for introducing us! — Corinne and Mike

Roxy Is a Joy
Dear SPCA ,
Roxy has brought more joy to Nathalie and myself than we could have ever imagined. She is the most loving cat in the world. When we come home, she runs to the door and immediately lays on her back for us to rub her tummy, and in return she gives us a chorus of purring. When it's time for some kitty exercise, we break out the laser light toy and she chases the light around. It is her absolute favorite thing to do, ever.
She spends almost every waking moment around us. No matter what, she gives us a reason to smile. At night, she comes right to bed with us and sleeps by our feet or cuddled up against us (seriously, every night— it is amazing). She is beautiful, loving and playful. Nathalie and I could not imagine our lives without her. Thank you so much. — Nathalie and Cory

Kinsey Rules!
Dear Katie and our SPCA Friends,
We have been so incredibly happy since MacKinsey (the doggie formerly known as Buffy) joined our lives! That little, tiny, 11-pound, shy beagle is now an outgoing, playful, healthy (if a bit round—what can we say—she loves to eat) 25-pound bundle of fun, love and mischief!
She loves me, but she definitely is a "daddy's girl"! She loves playing in her quarter-acre fenced-in yard, chasing squirrels, rabbits and any other little vermin that wanders into her space!
We've taken Kinsey on several trips with us, and she is a true "road dog"! Her first summer she drove to Tennessee with us and was terrific! I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, we love our "fur" baby very much. We couldn't imagine not having her. Kinsey rules! — Stacy & David

Ringo Watches Records Go Round
Hi Celeste and SPCA ,
Just wanted to let you know that Ringo (formerly called Roger) and I are having a wonderful time together! I can't believe it's only been a week since the adoption. I can't imagine my life without him! Ringo is my first kitten, and he just really loves being around people. He is already really well-adjusted and uses the litterbox perfectly.
Ringo loves watching records go round while they play, taking naps sprawled on top of my laptop, sitting on my shoulder like a parrot, and sleeping belly-up like he owns the place! And around here he does! I can't thank you enough for this amazing experience getting to know Ringo! — Christine
