Posy is a Great Match
I adopted Posy from her former family who advertised on the MD SPCA available pets website. This was a great way for me find the right cat for me. I was able to e-mail questions and gather info about Posy to see if we would be a good match. Posy came to my house for a trial period. I fell in love with her, and she has stayed. Posy was very shy but is slowly coming out of her shell. She and I are becoming best buddies. I am very grateful she is in my life and grateful for this website facillitating our match.—Ilene

Boomer is a Gem
We adopted Boomer (formerly Spyder) two weeks after our dog of 11 years died. He has definitely filled a void and then some. Although he is 100% puppy, he is so very sweet and smart. He loves everyone in the family and has his own "special" way of interacting with us. We love him dearly and enjoy watching him learn everyday. Thanks to all the wonderful folks at the MD SPCA, we have a real gem added to our family.—Karen

Jack Is a Joy
This is Jack. We brought him home on December 20, 2009. Jack is seven years old, and he's a snuggler. He snuggles with us at night before we go to sleep and then comes back every morning at about 4:30 to snuggle with us before we get up for work. He loves going on hikes at Oregon Ridge and long walks on the NCR trail. One of his favorite things to do at home is to sit in front of our large window and keep watch for anything that moves. We know he's seen something when we hear that loud, "AARROOOO." Jack has six human cousins that he loves to play with. The picture was taken at a birthday party last summer. Jack helped clean up by licking up the cake crumbs on the floor. Jack is such a joy and brings a smile to everyone he meets. We can't remember what life was like before we brought him home.—Sara

Bella Loves Belly Rubs
We adopted Bella (formally Violet) in June after we had to put down our cat due to illness. Bringing her home filled a much needed void in the house. She is super spunky with lots of energy. She loves to play fetch with her toy mice with us. Her other favorite thing to do is get belly rubs from her daddy. She evens lifts her leg for him! Thank you for letting us adopt her.—Amy

Monster Is Happy and Healthy
When I saw Kahana in the shelter, he was shaved with runny eyes and nose and suffering from an upper respiratory infection. I knew, though, from that first meeting that I loved him. After a couple of days of thinking about him and his monstrous appearance nonstop, I decided to come back for him. I was nervous to adopt him because he was sick, but, feeling confident with the advice of the vet tech at the shelter, I adopted him and took him home. He recovered from his infection and has been a happy, healthy cat since then. I renamed him Monster, because he was such a little monster in the shelter, and he is living up to his rambunctious name quite well. His favorite things are his feather toy, hiding in his "hut" (cat carrier), sleeping in the sun and EATING!
I was looking at the Maryland SPCA's website and noticed that Kahana is listed as a success story, so I wanted to send an update about his life now as Monster. I love this cat. Adopting him was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Thank you, MD SPCA, for this wonderful part of my family. —Simmone |

Baci Found His Friend for Life
I adopted Baci from the Maryland SPCA sometime in the Fall of 2000 when he was about 2 years old. He'd been given up twice. I brought home a German Shepherd in 2003, and Baci welcomed him right into the family. I've had Baci 9 years, and we live in Chicago now. Baci is 11 but can still run around like a puppy.—Aileen

Angel and Kaspar Are a Terrific Twosome
We had only planned on adopting one cat but came home with these two love birds! You see, we had a problem...our daughter loved Angel, and my husband and I loved Kaspar. But we only thought we should adopt one cat. We started the adoption process with Angel, and I tried to console myself that someone would surely take Kaspar soon. Fortunately, my husband and I soon realized that we just could not leave without Kaspar too.
Kaspar and Angel became best friends and have been on a quest to out-cute themselves on a daily basis. In addition to snuggling with us and each other, they also enjoy playing ball, playing "catch the toy poking out from under the door" and, of course, running the early morning obstacle course around the steps, through the living room, up the dining room table and onto the changing table. They are great with our kids, and everyone who meets them can't get over how affectionate they are. I know if we had decided to only adopt one or the other, we would have had a great pet and everything would have been great...but both of them together has been nothing short of awesome. Thank you to the MD SPCA volunteers who helped us find our sweet boys that day!—Lynn

Fiona is Full of Personality
There is never a dull moment with Fiona around. She has the most personality of any dog I have ever met, hands down. She has remarkably expressive eyes and is an abundant source of comic relief in our household. She is smart and a very quick learner, loves swimming and running around like mad, and plays a mean game of tug-of-war. Her sunny attitude and endearing goofiness won us over the first time we lay eyes on her at the Maryland SPCA. Fiona is an integral part of our family, and we thank you so much for bringing her into our lives. —Cynthia

Charlie Makes Himself Comfortable
We adopted Charlie in August of 2008. It's been over a year, and he's still so tense. We just wish he could learn to relax here in his forever home! :) —Marcia
